You can be assured that the quality and durability of our fabric and workmanship is superior. Surrey Clothing understands the need to produce garments that will stand the test of time.
Clothes manufacturing begins . . .
In 1941 Kayes Manufacturing Co. commenced a boys wear clothing factory which operated in the main hall for about 8 years until the Calner brothers, Dan and Ralph bought the business, and a couple of years later, the building for about 10,000 pounds. Mr Cainer says he remembers working on Sunday preparing some late orders and being surrounded by a choir singing, from the lodge room upstairs.
A young Geoff Classon joined the Cainer Brothers in 1965 after an apprenticeship in tailoring with Myers and a production career with StaffordEllinson Menswear. Geoff is now the Managing Director of Surrey Clothing and is passing his knowledge on to son Michael and daughter Jenny who both help manage the Australian wide distribution of the School wear label. Surrey Clothing have been making quality uniforms for over 30 years. Our clothing is made with the finest fabrics, friendly features, and scrupulous attention to detail. We endeavour to keep children comfortable and to make everything 'hand-me-downable' which pleases parents.
